Going Green Tips - Green Living From The Ground Up
|
| |
|
There are countless green living tips you can follow in order to change towards eco
friendly green living. |
Many of these - such as saving on gas, recycling, turning off your computer when you do not need it
etc. - are really nothing more than common sense. However, if a truly eco friendly lifestyle is your goal there are
many additional things you need to take into account. A lot of it still has to do with reducing the amount of
energy consumed in your home. Being truly eco friendly is in the end a way of looking at the entire world we live
in.
The Fast And Easy Approach To Green Living
Making your life at least a bit eco friendlier than it currently is, is in fact easier than most
people would believe. It is mostly about making many small changes to your daily habits, changes that in the end
doesn't cost you anything - on the contrary they most frequently will save you money - and that doesn't really
require much effort, other than a slight shift in mentality. This can include many simple going green tips
like:
-
Turning off electrical appliances completely when they are not in use
-
Adopting a fuel saving driving style - which incidentally also is better for traffic safety
-
Not taking the car in the first place, unless there is no other practical choice
-
Try not to throw away food - buy only as much as you need instead
-
Recycle everything you can
-
Bring your own cloth bag when you go shopping
-
Avoid unnecessarily strong cleaning agents and compounds
-
Use only as much washing powder as instructed on the package - more will most often actually yield a
poorer result
-
etc, etc.
Most of the above things are really no-brainers when you think about it, as all of them will
actually only be to your benefit anyway. The list of similar small, eco friendly things can be made very long
indeed, as there is virtually no aspect of your life that can't be improved upon in this fashion. In the guide
How To Go Green for example, you will find great many tips of this kind that you can
implement into your life immediately.
Although these suggestions are indeed very simple, you shouldn't underestimate their power.
Especially if more people do lots of small but great things, the total positive impact on the environment can be
very significant in the end.
The More Involved Eco Friendly Lifestyle
Being truly 'green' however, is more than can be accomplished by "monkey see
monkey do" kind of efforts. True eco friendliness is an entire philosophy, a way of looking at humankind as an
integral part of our environment. In fact, in the view of deep ecology it is not considered a given that mankind somehow is superior to the other
species on this planet, and thus we do not really have the right to dispose of our little place in the universe
as we see fit, certainly not in the name of ever growing profit.
Even if you do not desire to adopt this kind of almost religious attitude, it is a fact that true
eco friendly green living means more than simply leaving your car in the driveway a few days every week. It means
that you do adopt a strong stance in terms of what you thing is right and what is not. You demand clean water,
healthy foods, contamination free clothes, sustainable energy sources and so on.
This kind of ultimate green lifestyle can't be made without making changes to your lifestyle, that
will require both money and effort. It can mean changing the heating system of your house, better insulation or
even building a completely new house - one that takes advantage of the latest leaps in energy resources like solar
power and geothermal heat. It means changing your old, inefficient electrical appliances to new ones that consume
less energy.
As you understand, such a drastic change in lifestyle will get pricey rather quickly. Still even
most of these changes will more than likely prove to be wise investments in the long run, as you save money by
lowered energy bills.
And last but not least, you have the clean conscience of having done the best you could in order to
leave future generations a clean and healthy planet to live on.
At least get started with some of the green living tips we mentioned above.
